The Big New was founded in June 2020 by Patrick Rees and Eduardo Ortiz, two longtime collaborators with deep roots in the Los Angeles art world. With decades of experience at the highest level, they’ve led major projects for visionaries like Yayoi Kusama, Sterling Ruby, Cleon Peterson, Claire Tabouret, Tony Matelli, Liz Glynn, FriendsWithYou, Friedrich Kunath, KAWS, and Anne Imhof. Their work is shown at top institutions—LACMA, Musée Picasso, ICA Miami, MOCA, MOMA—and at galleries like Gagosian, Sprüth Magers, Xavier Hufkens, Hauser & Wirth, The Hole, and Blum & Poe.
The Big New is where bold ideas meet real-world expertise. We are a top-tier fabrication and casting company trusted by today’s leading artists to pull off the visionary and the technically wild. From concept to engineering, bronze to stainless steel, paint to final polish, we’re hands-on at every stage, always pushing for excellence and precision. We work side-by-side with artists, obsessing over the details, so their vision doesn’t just survive the process, it breaks through.
